PART II: What do you like most about your newfound...
1. I like the fact that I am more aware of persuasive advertising and that each part of an advertisement or commercial is perfectly structured to influence and persuade consumers. The journal entries made me really look at my surrounding and look in depth at commercials and ads around me that I would never had thought twice of before. 2. I really liked how I am more experienced and have for...

This commercial shows how people want to rejuvinate their skin. People are so into flawless, wrinkle free, younger looking skin, because its glamourous. Also this cream, and many others promise to defy gravity and prevent those wrinkles from showing. When people use this product they are convinced that they are not aging or thier wrinkles or diminishing.

This ad shows the glamour in skin care. They use the words healthy and beautiful skin to show the glamour in face wash becasue it is desired to have flawless skin. The tag line Clean and clear and under control shows that if you use this product you will have control of your acne.
Brooke Shields old CK commercial →
This CK commercial is a classic. It was very provacative just like today’s Calvin Klein ads and commercials. Brooke Shields a young model at the time was acting very sexual by saying that nothing comes between her and her CK jeans which implies that she is not wearing any under wear and giving this ad a raunchy sex appeal that CK has generationized.
Glamour and How to get ahead in Advertising
As stated in the text, the state of being envied is what constitutes glamour. Glamour is central to advertsing becasue it ecentuates well known celebrities who seem to be happy, and perfect without any flaws. In the movie, “How to get ahead in Advertising” glamour is cultivated throgugh the main character and his boil. Bagley the main character of the movie has a nervous breakdown...
Honda Car Commercial →
I really liked this commercial because it it a great visual and very intricat on each part of the car. This commercial followed each step it took to make a car function properly and it was a success. The echoing sounds of a car and the domino effect of all parts working together has a great mulimedia effect. I also really liked how in the beginning of the commercial you have no idea what is going...

Diet Pepsi Max Commercial →
I really liked this superbowl commercial on Diet Pepsi. Its humorous, grabs the audiences’ attention and the ending is straight to the point. When I first saw this commerical I had no idea that it was a Pepsi commercial at all. It was funny; you see celebrities, news hosts, avergae people, a coprporate office all nodding off and then when they have Pepsi max- that has extra ginsing and...
Poughkeepsie Tapes Trailer →
This is the original Poughkeepsie Tapes trailer; a movie that will be released in theaters in the Spring of 2008. This trailer uses great cinematography and the documentation type filming style makes the movie even more realiastic and suspensful. Also the use of the news reports, the black flashing screen, the sound effects and the type face of the taglines in the movie make the trailer so creepy....
FED EX- Castaway Commercial →
I came upon this commercial, on the internet. It is suppose to be a spoof of the movie Castaway with Tom Hanks, which actually is a great idea because the commercial shows how dedicated Fed ex and its workers are in delivering packages. It is a really funny commercial because you see te man marooned on the island struggling, then when he finally comes back home he wants to complete his mission and...

Spectators and Heros
When someone is a spectator that means they are a viewers and observers but aren’t we all spectators. We all watch others, watch television and are interested in lives other than ourselves. On some hand I think we watch others and observe to find relations with our own lives. Just like in Rear window, Jefferies was confined to a chair and had his beautiful girlfriend come visit him ever so often...
BBC Documentary- The Century of the Self
This documentary discussed the historic reasoning to persusive advertising through the roots of Freud’s studies. It depicts how the media has the ability to tap into our subconscious and create desires into needs. Freud also discussed how information can drive behavior. The main focus of the documentary was the experiment on how to get women during this time-1920’s, to start...
E-trade superbowl commercial →
I thought this was one of the best commercials during the superbowl. I loved how they used the baby wih a mans voice it was a great idea. Babies usually represent cozy, cuddly, gentle products but this commercial found a new use of a baby- I barely knew what E-trade was until this commercil. It brought a humorside to a usually boring commercial.

Truth commercial- the sunny side to truth →
When I saw this commericial on TV I thought it was totally bizaree. It is an anti- cigarette commercial and then all of a sudden there are cartoon characters singing about how tobaccco companies put a magical amount of nicotine in cigarettes to get people addited. I think that this commercial is suppose to attract children because of the cartoons. The complany probably want children to ask their...
Synopsis of Practises of Looking/ ADS
After reading the first chapter in the text I have become more observent of the media and visuls around me. I can now understand how some photo journalist caputure the essence of what they want to be portrayed. For instance, the photograph of Robert Frank- Trolley New Orleans, the one we saw in class is a picture of an actual moment in time. These people were not told to pose or the backgrund...
